Senate Bean Soup
Need A mixture of onion, water, potatoes, and a handful of other ingredients are all it takes to make this recipe so scrumptious. To use up the water you could follow this main course with the Watermelon-Peach Slushies as a dessert. It can be enjoyed any time, but it is especially good for Autumn. From preparation to the plate, this recipe takes roughly 4 hours and 35 minutes.
Instructions
In 4-quart Dutch oven, heat beans and water to boiling. Boil uncovered 2 minutes; remove from heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour.
Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 2 hours or until beans are tender.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 1 hour.
Remove ham bone; let stand until cool enough to handle.
Remove excess fat from ham; cut ham into 1/2-inch pieces. Stir ham into soup.
