Five-Layer Bars
Five-Layer Bars requires approximately 45 minutes from start to finish. One portion of this dish contains about 3g of protein, 18g of fat, and a total of 250 calories. For 53 cents per serving, you get a hor d'oeuvre that serves 24. This recipe is typical of Southern cuisine. If you have sleeves graham crackers, coconut, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and a few other ingredients on hand, you can make it.
Instructions
• Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly butter a 9 x 13-inch pan and line with parchment paper, allowing enough overhang on the long side to lift the bars from the pan.
Place the butter and graham crackers in a bowl and combine well.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and pat into an even layer to form the crust.
Sprinkle the coconut evenly over the crust.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the coconut.
Pour the condensed milk evenly over the chocolate chips.
Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the condensed milk layer. Press the layers down lightly.
Transfer to the oven and bake until lightly browned, about 30 minutes.
• Set aside to cool completely and cut into 24 pieces.

Recommended wine: Riesling, Sparkling Wine, Zinfandel
Southern can be paired with Riesling, Sparkling Wine, and Zinfandel. In general, there are a few rules that will help you pair wine with southern food. Food-friendly riesling or sparkling white wine will work with many fried foods, while zinfandel is great with barbecued fare. You could try Steppe Cellars Dry Riesling. Reviewers quite like it with a 4 out of 5 star rating and a price of about 18 dollars per bottle.
Steppe Cellars Dry Riesling
