Place the milk, cream, sugar and vanilla extract into a medium pan. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds out of the pod into the milk.

Put the scraped out pod into the milk. Cook the milk on medium until the sugar has dissolved and small bubbles start to form on the sides of the pan. Do not let the milk boil. Turn off the heat and add the gelatin. Stir to dissolve the gelatin.
