Blackened Tilapia with Secret Hobo Spices
Blackened Tilapia with Secret Hobo Spices is a dairy free and pescatarian recipe with 4 servings. One serving contains 241 calories, 27g of protein, and 7g of fat. This recipe covers 22% of your daily requirements of vitamins and minerals. It works best as a main course, and is done in approximately 18 minutes. If you have oregano, lemon, tilapia fillets, and a few other ingredients on hand, you can make it. To use up the kosher salt you could follow this main course with the Low Fat Crumbs Cake (Kosher-Dairy) as a dessert. Instructions
In a small bowl or jar with a lid, make the spice blend.
Mix together the paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, white pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, celery seed and kosher salt. Coat the fish fillets with the spice mixture, and allow to sit at room temperature for no longer than 30 minutes.
Heat a heavy skillet over high heat.
Add oil, and heat until it is almost smoking.
Place the fillets in the pan, and cook for about 3 minutes per side, or until fish is opaque and can be flaked with a fork.
Remove from the pan, and place onto slices of white bread.
Pour pan juices over them and squeeze lemon juice all over. Do not underestimate the white bread. It gets quite tasty soaking up all the juices.
Recommended wine: Pinot Grigio, Gruener Veltliner, Pinot Noir, Sparkling Wine
Pinot Grigio, Gruener Veltliner, and Pinot Noir are my top picks for Tilapia. Fish is as diverse as wine, so it's hard to pick wines that go with every fish. A crisp white wine, such as a pinot grigio or Grüner Veltliner, will suit any delicately flavored white fish. Meaty, strongly flavored fish such as salmon and tuna can even handle a light red wine, such as a pinot noir. One wine you could try is Mark West Pinot Grigio. It has 4.5 out of 5 stars and a bottle costs about 13 dollars.
