Place chiles in medium saucepan filledwith water; bring to boil. Reduce heat tomedium and simmer until chiles are tender,adding more water if needed to keep chilessubmerged, 1 to 11/2 hours, depending ondryness of chiles.
Combine softened chipotles,cranberries, sugar, and lemon juice in heavymedium saucepan and stir over mediumheat until sugar dissolves. Continue cookinguntil cranberries begin to pop, stirringoccasionally, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic,cinnamon, and cumin. Simmer until saucethickens slightly and flavors meld, stirringoften, about 5 minutes. Cool.
