Instructions
In a large bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
Spread into a greased 11-in. x 7-in. baking pan.
Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
