Instructions
Lightly grease a 6-qt. slow cooker; add onion and garlic. Stir together chili powder and next 5 ingredients. Rub over brisket; place brisket over onion mixture in slow cooker.
Whisk together beer and chili sauce. Slowly pour mixture around brisket (to avoid removing spices from brisket).
Cover and cook on LOW 7 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours) or until fork-tender. Uncover and let stand in slow cooker 20 minutes.
Remove brisket from slow cooker; cut brisket across the grain into thin slices. Return brisket to slow cooker, and spoon pan juices over meat.
Recommended wine: Shiraz, Tempranillo, Zinfandel
Beef Brisket works really well with Shiraz, Tempranillo, and Zinfandel. All these red wines can handle the meaty, smokey flavor of brisket. If you're talking traditional Jewish brisket, you'll want to look for a kosher red wine. The Rosemount Grenache-Syrah-Mouvedre G.S.M. with a 4.1 out of 5 star rating seems like a good match. It costs about 30 dollars per bottle.

Rosemount Grenache-Syrah-Mouvedre G.S.M.
1997 GSM has a deep crimson appearance and displays intense berry fruit aromas with a deep underlying smokey spice. Savoury oak is also evident, underlying the primary fruit characters. On the palate, the wine displays a fine depth of deep, spicy fruit flavour, rich in cinnamon and liquorice characters with a background of dusty, soft ripe tannins. There is a rich, core of dark fruit and a long finish indicative of a high quality wine with the capacity to age up to ten more years. The wine comprises 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.
