Instructions
In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts.
Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Roll into 1-in. balls; dip tops in sugar.
Place 2 in. apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets.
Bake at 375° for 9-11 minutes or until lightly browned and tops are cracked.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
