Recommended wine: Riesling, Sparkling Wine, Zinfandel
Riesling, Sparkling Wine, and Zinfandel are great choices for Southern. In general, there are a few rules that will help you pair wine with southern food. Food-friendly riesling or sparkling white wine will work with many fried foods, while zinfandel is great with barbecued fare. The Selbach Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken with a 4 out of 5 star rating seems like a good match. It costs about 21 dollars per bottle.

Selbach Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken
#95 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2017It’s richer and less minty than usual but I like the richness in this vintage, which can use a little gras; so anticipate a wine with more apple and less spearmint; crunchy stuff. The parcel is called Heel and it’s to the right of Anrecht, from which one of the great trio of en-bloc wines comes.
