Instructions
Place pears, cut side down, in an 11-in. x 7-in. baking dish.
Brush with 2 teaspoons lemon juice.
Add water and remaining lemon juice to pan.
Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 15-20 minutes or just until pears are tender.
Drain and cool to room temperature.
In a small bowl, whisk the oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. In another bowl, combine the blue cheese, walnuts and onions.
Just before serving, divide lettuce among six plates; drizzle with dressing. Top each with a pear half and 2 tablespoons blue cheese mixture.
Recommended wine: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gruener Veltliner
Salad works really well with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gruener Veltliner. Sauvignon Blanc and Gruner Veltliner both have herby notes that complement salads with enough acid to match tart vinaigrettes, while a Chardonnay can be a good pick for creamy salad dressings. The Brick & Mortar Manchester Ridge Vineyard Chardonnay with a 4.9 out of 5 star rating seems like a good match. It costs about 40 dollars per bottle.
