Old World Vegetable Soup
You can never have too many main course recipes, so give Old World Vegetable Soup If you have onion, barley, dill leaves, and a few other ingredients on hand, you can make it. To use up the dill you could follow this main course with the Raspberry Chocolate Dessert Quesadilla #Choctoberfest as a dessert. It can be enjoyed any time, but it is especially good for Autumn.
Instructions
Saute the onions in oil until lightly browned. Rinse the split peas and barley in water and place in a large pot.
Add the chicken stock and water and cook over medium-high heat. until almost tender, about 1 hour.
Add the pasta and cook 10 minutes longer. Then add the lima beans and vegetables, cook until the vegetables are tender. Season with dill, salt and pepper.
